What equipment do I need to remove vinyl decals from a vehicle? (hypothetical situation .... say some 30th anniversary TA type stripes were on a car for 10 years )

Heat gun will allow you to peel it off.

You can also try some 3M general purpose adhesive remover.
But I bet those things are really baked on there you might end up having to strip them off with a eraser wheel.

IF we are talking about the pink stripes on your car...Pat is right...i doubt heat alone will do it at this point. Give it a go, but i bet you end up with the eraser wheel. Also, unless you are re-striping it, be prepared for some uneven paint.

try parking it out in the hot sun to see if heat will do it. a heat gun could be a little dangerous. lol it it comes off in little piecs at that point an eraser wheel will be your only resort

If you plan on taking them off and keeping them off I would worry a little about a shade of color difference in the paint since it was not exposed to sun versus the rest of the car.

Just do what you do with your license plate stickers: Leave 'em there and put another layer on! ;)
