View Full Version : Another trans problem, this time a Saturn Vue
Ok my girlfriends 2004 Saturn Vue transmission started acting up this morning. It drives fine in all the forward gears. But in reverse it is acting up. I jerk when in reverse. I have to give it a moderate amount of gas to get it to move in reverse. When I let off the gas it jerks to a stop. It almost feels like the parking brake is on but it is not. Any ideas?
As always thanks for the help

no SES light on the dash?
Oh I forgot to mention that there is. I have a feeling there is a problem with the OBD II port. The scanner starts to scan the code and then turns off and turns on. I know it is not the scanner because I tried it on another car and it works fine. So that really makes things difficult. I wish I had another scanner to try.
Can a mod please move this to the General help section. I didn't realize it was in the wrong place.

Is it the VTi trans?
Yes it is. The trans is shot. Waiting to hear back from GM to see if they are going to give her a $5000 credit towards a new car. They will not pay for 50% if the repair because she is over 100,000 miles.

VTi trans is garbage. My friend owns a transmission shop and his son owned one that went through 4 of them. 2 were GM rebuilds when they wouldn't sell the bands etc. You had to buy rebuilt halves in gear or band sections.
Get whatever you can and run far away from it.
She ended up with the $5000 towards a new car.

EXCELLENT! Glad to hear it.
She ended up with a 2012 Cruze LT for 18200 out the door. I think she did very well. I didn't have to say a word. She did all the negotiations herself. We had a great saleman. I usually get pissed of at them with in five minutes, but he did an exceptional job. We agreed on a 2012 Cruze LS last night. He called this morning and said he talked his manager into giving us a 2012 cruze LT for the same price because it has been sitting on the lot for awhile. We did not ask him to do this so she walked out with a few options she wanted but couldn't afford. The manage got mad after he saw the price we were getting it at. He told the saleman that he could not sell us the LT at that price. The salesman told him it was too late since he already offered it to her.

Awesome, I really like the new Cruze. I think GM did a great job with the car. I just couldn't believed the used 2011's were over $20k for the LTZ so it was hard to justify. What engine is in the LT?

Getting a level headed salesman is a very rare occurrence.
