I have a 2001 2500HD silverado and the climate control system is acting up. There are five settings for the fan speed. Over time I keep losing one at a time. Now the only time it blows air is on 4 and 5. If its set on 1,2, or 3 nothing happens. Any ideas?? Thanks!

blower motor resistor
OE # 89019089

Hey thanks guys,

Is the resistor behind the dash? I'm guessing I'll buy it and just look for it till I find the same looking part! Thanks again!

It's bolted in the HVAC case near the blower motor.

Call a chevy dealer and ask if its part of the recall. My dad was sent a letter about it after we had allready fixed his module.

The special policy from GM only applies to 03-07 models. Your vehicle does not fall into that window. I agree that it is likely a blower motor resistor/module. Also the connector and terminals may be melted where they plug into the resistor and the connector will need to be replaced as well
